Presented at EICMA 2019, Gen 2 adopts the S 1000 RR's new 999cc 4-cylinder and its FlexFrame, 5kg lighter. Total weight reduced 10kg (226kg). Semi-active ESA standard, colour Bluetooth TFT, 4 riding modes. Euro 5 compliance in 2021, then in 2024 +5hp (170hp) and revised ergonomics.

Presented at EICMA 2014 and launched in June 2015, the S 1000 XR creates the adventure sport category by fitting the S 1000 R's 999cc 4-cylinder into a lowered frame with road handlebars. 160hp, ABS Pro and two riding modes standard. In 2017, +5hp (165hp), reworked handlebar to tackle vibrations and reinforced subframe.
